History of Garden City Football Club
Founded in 1960s, our football club has a proud tradition rooted in community spirit, resilience, and a deep love for the beautiful game. What began as a small group of local enthusiasts playing on makeshift pitches has since grown into a respected institution, both on and off the field.
Throughout the decades, the club has experienced its fair share of triumphs and challenges. The Club unfortunately folded in the late 70s, but was revived again thanks to the work of Peter and Kathy Walton. Our journey reflects the passion and determination of players, coaches, and supporters alike.
The club has been home to many from the age of 5 years old, all the way through to adulthood. We have been fortunate to help young stars find a career in football with the likes of:
- Ikechi Anya: Watford, Derby and Scotland (29caps)
- Josh McEachran: Chelsea, Oxford and England U21s

Garden City FC also have an FA Cup record holder, with former player and coach, Danny wise, after becoming the first player to score an incredible five goals after coming on as a substitute for Oxford City vs Shoreham back in 2000.
Our home ground located at Ron Groves Recreation Ground, Maple Ave, Kidlington OX5 1HN has been around from the start and has changing facilities and a club shop.
Off the pitch, the club is deeply committed to fostering youth development, community outreach, and inclusivity. Today, we continue to build on our legacy, striving for excellence with every match, while honouring the history and values that shaped our identity.
