Code of Conduct

The FA’s Respect Campaign aims to improve behaviour across grassroots football by:

  • Introducing Codes of Conduct for players, coaches, referees, and parents.
  • Encouraging initiatives like Silent Sidelines, where parents remain quiet during games to let children express themselves.
  • Promoting positive reinforcement and discouraging abuse or negative behaviour.

Parents’ Code of Conduct

  • Do’s:
    • Support your child with encouragement, not instructions.
    • Respect referees, coaches, and other players.
    • Stay behind the designated spectator area (or respect barrier).
  • Don’ts:
    • Do not use offensive or abusive language.
    • Avoid coaching from the sidelines.
    • Never challenge officials aggressively.

Encouraging Support for Young Referees

Garden City support young referees starting their officiating journey. It is important that everyone attending the matches adheres to the above code of conduct.

  • Consequences for breaches can include:
    • Verbal warnings.
    • Removal from matches.
    • Game Abandonment
